All my information comes from "mainstream media". I lost over 1200 Favorites in the great purge, so I understand how you feel. About a month ago a New York Times article and the CNN website offered a glimpse of what is happening behind the scenes. There is a strong "anti-porn" law hidden in the stimulus bill passed by the U.S. Congress. The Feds are really cracking down on (mainly) "exploitation of .... people whose birth year begins with the digit 2" and also on "copyright violations". Hamster got caught by surprise because they have not done a good job policing this site. The same thing is happening in Europe. On her profile Hamster user jana-chen has posted a lot of detailed information. Like you, I think Hamster owes us a detailed explanation of all that is happening so we can decide where to go from here. I am very frustrated and disappointed at the moment, but I think I will be patient for a while and see how it all shakes out.

It is still possible to upload photos, but you can't do it anonymously any more. I examined the profiles of several users who posted photos recently. As indicated by the green check mark in the upper right corner of their profile, they are "Community Users", formerly known as "Verified Users". I believe the requirement is to submit a photo showing your face while you are holding a handwritten sign with your user ID written on it. I am not 100% sure, but I believe this verification photo does not need to appear on your profile as long as Hamster has a copy of it tied to your profile. Other classes of posters appear to be "Content Sellers" and "Friends of Hamster". I assume these statuses also require some verification of your identity.
